Lesser lights of the scientific world scoffed at him, smirked and whispered "poor old Linus has gone round the bend, gone off the deep end with this vitamin C stuff." But as it had done before, time would prove him out.
Dr. Pauling passed away in 1994 at the age of 93, but the research he so diligently began into the potential beneficial effects of ascorbic acid on heart disease, cancer, and viral illness is still being actively pursued by his followers at the Pauling Institute of Science and Medicine in Palo Alto, California. |

8 Infants at greatest risk of neonatal hypomagnesemia are low-birth-weight infants, including those suffering from intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR) or premature infants recovering from birth hypoxia or later respiratory distress, and infants born to very young primiparous women or to young mothers who have had frequent pregnancies or multiple births, to preeclamptic mothers, and to diabetic mothers. |

Quercetin decreased oxidative stress-induced neuronal cell membrane damage more than vitamin C. These results suggest that quercetin, in addition to many other biological benefits, contributes significantly to the protective effects of neuronal cells from oxidative stress-induced neurotoxicity, such as Alzheimer's disease (Heo and Lee, 2004). On the other hand, the suppressive effects of flavones, such as chrysin and apigenin, on the expression of the high affinity IgE receptor FceRI, which plays a central role in the IgE-mediated allergic response (Yano et al., 2005) has been demonstrate.

VITAMIN A
1 do not recommend the use of straight vitamin A because of its potential toxicity. Instead supplement with a mixture of mixed carotenoids. Carotenoids become vitamin A in the body as the body has need and they have no toxicity problems.
CAROTENOIDS
It is important to have a mixture of carotenoids rather than taking only beta-carotene. |

We have those, too, to augment the mega pet daily. We have 150 different supplements. This takes care of a whole host of different things, from cancer to viral and bacterial diseases and even things as easy as arthritis and allergies.

Nothing comes close to the power of vitamin D to stop cancer.
The cancers that I'm referring to are prostate cancer, breast cancer and cervical cancer. vitamin D is extremely powerful at halting the progression of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, schizophrenia, depression, gum disease and even neuromuscular disorders. This is a super nutrient, and the research is finally coming to light as people are waking up to its healing powers. |

There is also a convincing literature that psychotherapy, which managed-care companies in their penny-pinching myopia have been so loathe to pay for, saves a lot of money in the long run. It has been repeatedly substantiated that the proactive and preventive nature of psychotherapy reduces the usage of far more acute and expensive services, such as emergency room visits and hospitalizations. |

Friendly bacteria manufacture many essential nutrients for our body, including vitamin K, B-vitamins, numerous helpful enzymes and other vital substances. Such "good" or aerobic bacteria thrive in the presence of oxygen and require it for their continued growth and existence. That is why if we do not have enough oxygen in the cells of our body, "bad" bacteria take over and begin to thrive, causing an extreme amount of infections and disease. These pathogenic bacteria are anaerobic, and cannot tolerate gaseous oxygen. Taking care of our intestinal flora is vitally important! |

And it's the same story with every vitamin, mineral and herb discredited in the popular press. Every single study that says "Vitamin E has no benefit" or "Saw palmetto is useless for your prostate" is a lie. It's all based on utterly dishonest science that's carefully constructed for the sole purpose of making nutrition look bad. And the press buys right into it, reporting information that's worse than merely useless; it's downright harmful. |

Rubman suggests a 50-mg multi-B vitamin and an orally absorbable form of B-12, such as hydroxy-cobalamin. Take them twice a day for four days, starting two days before the test. Take the multi with meals, and hold B-12 in the mouth until dissolved, between meals. On the day of the procedure, take these immediately after the test.
Finally, bring an extra pair of underwear (accidents are possible). Expect to eat within 30 minutes of completing the procedure—but don't drive for four hours after anesthesia. |

If you are having digestive issues, choose a sublingual B12 supplement or talk to your doctor about B12 injections. Supplements of B12 may inhibit viral invasion into certain types of immune cells. Added bonus: supplements of B12 may inhibit viral invasion into certain types of immune cells.

In other research published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 2004, an animal (baboon) model was used to show that the combination of coenzyme Q10 and vitamin E reduced C-reactive protein, a potent inflammatory marker for coronary artery disease and macular degeneration, as well as for other diseases of aging.
It is also important to note the membrane-stabilizing activity of coenzyme Qio, and the very recent discovery of its favorable effects on platelets and platelet function. All these properties of coenzyme Qiq enhance its anti-aging benefits. |

There's vitamin C. There's vitamin E. There's Arginine and grape seed extract.
What I try to do, Mike, is take a whole lot of ingredients that have some data behind them so they're not just put together and thrown in together but there's a method to it.
You can go to the website, HDLBooster.com, and read about every ingredient and what each ingredient's doing. Then, there are studies to back up every single ingredient. What I think happened when we did the study is the HDL was elevated significantly because of the multiple ingredients. That's what makes it special. There's no magic. |

Obesity has become an epidemic in the pantry of plenty, yet in addition to our ever-expanding waistlines, we often are deficient in many nutrients, including magnesium, zinc, selenium, folate, vitamin D, omega 3 fatty acids, and even dietary fiber. Herbs are no substitute for healthier eating.
In addition, the average American gets slightly more than seven hours of sleep per night. In one study, it was stated that in 1910 the average person in this country slept nine hours per night. If this is accurate, it means most Americans are sleep deprived. |

These results indicate that treatment with coenzyme Qio within seventy-two hours of infarction may be associated with (a) a significant decline in total cardiac events, (b) decreased risk of atherosclerosis leading to subsequent cardiac events, (c) increased blood levels of vitamin E helping to inhibit LDL oxidation, and (d) reduced oxidative damage to the heart by fighting free radicals and reducing reperfusion injury. This is a landmark study that should be read by anyone interested in this topic. |

3.5 ug/ml are required to have a positive impact on severely diseased hearts. Therefore, whenever employing coenzyme Q10 as a supplement, it is important to note not only the amount being taken, but how it is absorbed into the body and delivered to the tissues.
Product bioavailability is obviously a major concern to consumers. All coenzyme Qio is made in Japan and sold to various companies, but the packaging and preparations differ. |

If there is a mild reductase enzyme aberration, then taking more ubiquinone or taking it with vitamin C may compensate for the deficiency. Certainly more research needs to be done.
Therefore, in some of these genetically "impaired" people or in patients with severe depletion of their energy, perhaps ubiquinol may have an advantage especially if high doses of biologically active ubiquinone don't appear to do the job. Eventually human studies will have to be done to assess ubiquinol and ubiquinone to see if there is a striking advantage of using one supplement over the other. |
There was no change in blood pressure in the group that received vitamin E alone, or in the control group. In both the coenzyme Qi0 and the control group, the average blood level of coenzyme Qio increased significantly to 2.60 mg/ml and 2.50 mg/ml, respectively.
Analysis of individual patient data revealed that 55 percent of patients in the coenzyme Qio treatment group responded, and achieved a reduction in systolic blood pressure. Forty-five percent did not respond. Within the group of respon-ders, the average drop in systolic blood pressure was 25.9 mm Hg. |
Because of this lack of understanding, doctors don't want to be known as "vitamin doctors." They don't want their local peers to see them as kooks, and don't want referrals from family doctors to dry up. They stay mainstream, and use the "lack of science" argument when discussing nutritional therapies. The studies are there, but doctors just don't know about them (or don't want to know about them). |

I gave her some vitamin C because there had been reports out of Germany that it helps prevent dysplasia.
It's true we have used vitamin C for the same reasons. So, I thought I was doing everything I could possibly do for this dog. I had her dipped several times, so she wouldn't get fleas or ticks. Well, at 9 months old, she developed Parvo and died. I was floored. First of all, she had all her Parvo shots, so why should she get Parvo? Second, why did the Parvo ravage her digestive tract? Well, I was in a nutrition class and she would come with me to that class. |
