Also of interest are the effects of vitamin K, found in high concentrations in Alfalfa. In man, a bleeding disorder occurs when the delivery of bile to the bowel is hindered, as for example in obstructive jaundice or biliary fistula. Other bleeding disorders result from the use of artificial formulas to feed newborn children, protracted antibiotic therapy, pancreatic insufficiency, chronic diarrhea and steatorrhea, and from the use of anticoagulants, aspirin and anticonvulsant drugs. Most of these conditions are the result of misuse of modern medical technology. |

You don't need to be drinking vitamin D if you have the sun. Just go out and get some sun and let your body create it for you. That's also a great way to save money on vitamin D supplements.
Another reason I don't like cows' milk as a source of calcium is because there is a lot of bad that goes in with the good of the calcium. You get the homogenized milk fats, which I call "processed milk fats." You will also get a whole lot of calories.
You know, milk, I think, is very deceptively marketed. |

I like this spray because it avoid all the fillers and excipients used in vitamin pills and capsules, meaning it gets digested almost instantly (there's no bulk or fiber to have to break apart). The same company also has a product called New Focus that I also recommend. Loaded with zeaxanthin, bilberry and ginkgo, it's a super nervous system protector and enhancer. (It also happens to put antioxidants into your skin that help protect you from sunburn.) It's outstanding for eye health and has numerous other benefits.

The relationship between vitamin A deficiency and child mortality was noted as early as the 1930s, when supplementation with vitamin A was reported to significantly reduce mortality among measles patients. Research in 1990 again reported the effectiveness of vitamin A supplementation in reducing morbidity and mortality (JAMA, 17 February 1993, p. 898). Why has the medical profession ignored that information for more than 60 years? |

Some deficiencies may also reduce immune functions or estrogen metabolism; other potential problems are anemia, especially from vitamin B12 or folic acid deficiency, constipation, neuritis, skin problems, acne, hair loss, early graying of the hair, increased serum cholesterol, and weakness of the legs, to name a few.

Bess Dawson-Hughes of Tufts University reported that daily supplements of calcium (500 mg) and vitamin D (700 IU) for three years significantly increased bone density. People taking the supplements had half the fractures of a group taking a placebo.
According to a 1997 report issued by the National Academy of Sciences, most Americans do not consume enough calcium. In that report researchers noted that most people fail to obtain the recommended amounts of calcium (1,000 mg daily for people ages twenty-five to fifty and 1,200 mg daily for people over age fifty-one). |

Wakefield then speculated that the associated deficiencies in vitamin B]2 from a reduced ability to absorb this nutrient from food contributed to the autistic regression seen in those children, since this nutrient is essential for the normal development of the central nervous system.
Autism-linked bowel problems can also be triggered by a high exposure to chemicals and a reduced ability to deal with them as the bowel becomes more damaged and leaky (see chapter 7). |
Other nutrients which prevent lead poisoning by reducing its absorption or by accelerating its safe removal from the body are magnesium (vitally important), calcium, vitamin C, zinc and MSM-sulphur.
As you can see, the good news is that this situation can be easily remedied by making sure you give your children the nutrients they need in the form of supplementation. Indeed, since mothers who take nutrients during pregnancy lower their child's risk of developing childhood cancer as well as a large number of other diseases, it is never too early to start. |

Secondly, the calcium in milk isn't well utilized by the human body unless magnesium and vitamin D are also present - and both of these are typically lacking in the American diet. Milk also contributes to the phosphorus mineral imbalance due to its own high phosphorus and protein content:
Too much protein - milk again, as well as meat - increases calcium loss. Also, phosphates (in processed foods and soft drinks, common in the average child's diet) can cause calcium loss or excretion. |

Supplementing with magnesium would help your body absorb more supplementary calcium, and increased exposure to healthy, natural sunlight would increase vitamin D stores, but even then, there are far better places to get calcium. Namely: whole food complexes and superfoods like chlorella and spirulina. Plant sources of calcium are clearly your best choice:

The pain in my arm did not decrease until after I took 500 mg of B6 daily (almost 300 times the DV) for several months. It took an entire year for me to regain complete mobility of the arm.

Evidence also suggests that garlic can suppress carcinogen (e.g., nitro-samine) formation and carcinogen bioactivation, via its effects on Phase I and II enzymes, etc. These aspects are reviewed in detail in the following sections.

By following a refined foods diet, people remain in a state of vitamin deficiency, and rather than taming that deficiency through healthy nutrition, they frequently turn to prescription drugs in order to mask the symptoms of their disorders. Yet the root cause of these conditions can be traced to the consumption of refined carbohydrates. |

Alternatively, if you have symptoms consistent with pyroluria, you could simply begin taking a high-potency B-complex supplement, containing at least 100 mg of vitamin B6, and 25 mg of zinc daily. If your symptoms ease within thirty days, there is a good chance that you are genetically predisposed to excrete kryptopyrrole. It is important to maintain normal B6 and zinc levels and to consider stress-reduction techniques.

In turnips vitamin K in the tops is 2,500 (!) times higher than in the roots. The compelling difference between nutrients in these two parts of the plants is obvious and indisputable. Think about thousands of tons of highly nutritious food, the green tops of the root vegetables, that are wasted year after year due to our ignorance, while the majority of people suffer from chronic deficiencies.
Naturally, one question comes to mind. Why don't greens taste good to us? Isn't our body wise enough to intuitively crave what it needs? |

There's no program in place to teach women about the anti-cancer effects of sunlight and vitamin D (in fact, cancer industry groups like the American Cancer Society run public service ads warning people about sunlight!), there's no honest effort to teach women about the natural anti-cancer medicine founds in certain foods, and no one is telling women the truth about the cancer-causing chemicals in perfumes, laundry detergent, cosmetics and personal care products.
In other words, when it comes to preventing cancer, the cancer industry is silent. Why should they say anything, anyway? |
