Also, even though their own best scientists are advocating that certain nutrients can indeed prevent and cure the worst diseases, they refuse to discuss or evaluate their own findings even though the drug industry itself has on occasion called a nutrient a drug, such as vitamin D, and sold it for a profit. Instead, they try to incarcerate those advocating the use of nutrients to prevent disease even though there is staggering evidence that the nutrients work.

Mastering Leptin: The Leptin Diet, Solving Obesity and Preventing Disease, Second Edition

In addition to the basic multiple vitamin, we use a unique form of calcium called calcium AEP. Calcium is important for nerve function; however, calcium AEP is special. This form of calcium builds up the myelin sheathing of nerves, enabling the nerves to carry more energy, a key problem of fibromyalgia. There are other nutrients that can be used to help nerves, such as Acetyl-L-Carnitine, Phosphatidylserine, DHA, Carnosine, and many others. These nutrients may be quite helpful. However, a person with fibromyalgia cannot tolerate a great deal of stimulation, including nutrient stimulation.
Thus, not only is the lack of vitamin D a specific problem that improperly increases leptin, it also decreases calcium uptake which predisposes a person to a higher than normal level of agouti. This in turn causes higher levels of neuropeptide Y and food cravings. EATING TOO MUCH BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT EATING ENOUGH? All of this information tells us that feeling satisfied from food is a complex issue. If we have strict rules that prevent eating fat or carbohydrates, we could easily get into a situation of elevated neuropeptide Y that does not shut off.

It's very rich in bioflavonoids, very rich in vitamin C, high in pectin, and for a fruit, it has a surprisingly high protein count. It's got an exquisite, exotic flavor to it, and it starts off tasting like a raisin and then the seeds that are contained in the berries start to explode when you're crunching on it. It gives you this very tangy, sweet-and-sour kind of flavor. It's a very unique taste. Mike: I love these berries, by the way. I put them in cookies that I make. You know -- whole grain cookies with no sweeteners -- just the Incan berries. Adelman: Awesome.
It is the mother strain, called the Lycium Eleganus, and it's very nutritious and very high in vitamin C, beta-carotene and trace minerals -- over 20 trace minerals, in fact. It also contains a full broad spectrum of amino acids, including all eight essential amino acids. It's very tasty, delicious and juicy -- it tastes quite a bit like a cherry, cranberry and raisin all mixed together. To complement this product, we also work directly with our partner company in Peru that produces our maca and our cacao products.

Scientists at the University of California found that the natural form of vitamin D, which comes from the sun, dramatically reduces the chances of developing breast, ovarian, and colon cancer. Report after report after report is now coming in, stating the truth about the benefits of getting natural sunlight. This is a natural cure they don't want you to know about. It's amazing that I am called a person who promotes quackery when I make statements such as natural sunlight is beneficial to your health.

I would say things to them like, "I follow Cathcart's advice and I take vitamin C to bowel tolerance, and I have been doing that for years." When I said that they were just astonished, and their reaction is, "Well, why not just eat an orange?" At that time I was living in Florida, and I had orange trees in my yard along with grapefruit trees and everything else. I said, "Well, I could actually do that. I could pick bushels of oranges where I live in Florida. I have better things to do with my time than spend every waking minute eating oranges.
They do not want to make it easy for you to be able to afford to take vitamin C to bowel tolerance. They do not want to make it affordable or easy for people to take that kind of quantity. I had a glimpse into their mindset when I was on the U.S. Delegation to the Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses in Bonn, Germany in 1996 and again in Berlin in 1998. Prior to the meeting in Berlin in 2000, I was kicked off the U.S. Delegation because of my efforts as a whistleblower to try to put Dr. Beth Yetley of the FDA under a congressional microscope.

This fat burning time can be enhanced by a short duration strength exercise before bed, like push-ups, and by any type of vitamin support that helps a person sleep better, if needed. Common examples are calcium and magnesium. Not snacking between meals and not eating after dinner at night are key times that set the stage for prime fat burning. When a person is in a good fat burning mode, it is expected that the individual has a good energy level, clear head, less body aches or pains, and no cravings for foods that are known to promote weight gain.

Mike: That is a great point, John, and I want to mention to readers who may think these are just unsubstantiated charges, the fact is the FDA routinely conducted armed raids throughout the 1980s and 1990s on numerous organizations, clinics, a church, vitamin shops, and pet food stores. These raids are all very well-documented, and I think the Life Extension Foundation itself was faced something like 88 different charges? John: Yes, those people were charged with a whole bunch of trumped-up charges and the feds perjured themselves to get the search warrant that was used to conduct the raid.

It is extremely biologically active, much more so than plain vitamin B5. If we think of fats in the body as a long train, pantethine acts like the locomotive, hauling and transporting fat into metabolic action. No other nutrient is as effective as pantethine. Pantethine can lower LDL cholesterol,346,347 raise HDL cholesterol,348,349 lower triglycerides,350,351 and make blood less sticky.352 Unlike drugs, these cardiovascular risk-reducing features are accomplished by restoring normal metabolism of fat without any adverse side effects, thus promoting the restoration of natural balance.

While such nutrients may not be needed to prevent a nutritional deficiency disease, such as the lack of vitamin C causing scurvy, specific nutrients may be essential to help a person overcome leptin resistance. This need varies from person to person. What about the nutritional needs of someone who is at high risk for prostate cancer or who has prostate cancer? In the preventive sense, there are two ways to look at this. One way is to use nutrition to help correct leptin resistance and insulin resistance, in turn, lowering the risk factor for the problem.

The results with one treatment, vitamin E, have been inconclusive. Some studies show that vitamin E improves the course of the tics while other studies show that it does not. Since the results are not conclusive, I suggested vitamin E to Maura without creating too high an expectation. After Maura left my office, I was distracted for the rest of the day. I was certainly familiar with the kind of tics she had. In fact, I had seen much graver cases, but only in patients who had been treated with older drugs. Physicians always feel guilty when their treatments cause new, sometimes worse problems.

Just like the other derivatives, these two are essential and necessary, but you do not need to take them as your body will produce them as much as is needed (much like your body converts beta-carotene into vitamin A at the rate you need it). Think of derivatives as children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc. EPA is the great-grandchild of Omega 3 and DHA the great, great, great-grandchild. So as much as they are part of the family of Omega 3 they are not actually Omega 3.

Dr. Liers: Yes! It has chia seeds in it, too. Again, it was to get some essential fatty acids, and to get, as you know, the fiber from chia seeds, which is a truly wonderful fiber, plus antioxidants, and just a little extra protein. Part of it is, if you put superfoods together in a nice combination, they are each going to contribute in their own way. There is no single thing that does everything.

For one thing, these recommendations reflect the erroneous notion that a virus is the cause of "AIDS", and that vitamin C will attack the virus. For another, such megadoses violate the most important principle of recovery for a "PWA", the principle of balance. Megadoses of one vitamin can deplete other vitamins, thus artificially creating malnutrition. The best guide is still: "Nothing in excess". Yoghurt and kefir have much nutritional value, and contain friendly bacteria that act against the yeast syndrome.
