But don't take processed, synthetic forms of the vitamin. Ascorbic acid is not the same thing as full-spectrum vitamin C. Get your vitamin C from nutritional supplements or superfoods made from plants. Good sources are rose hips and Pure Camu -- a product from the Amazon Herb Company that's made from camu camu berries (the highest natural source of vitamin C in the world). (See http://amazondreams.amazonherb.net/Pure_Camu_Solo.aspx )
The Amazon Herb Company also makes a high-grade Camu C Serum product that's excellent for wound care. |

Notably, the research team also found when dietary fats were added to the mix, the antioxidant properties of vitamin C were neutralized, and the carcinogenic N-nitrosamine was formed.
"These results indicate that the presence of lipid can markedly alter the protective effects of antioxidants with respect to potentially carcinogenic nitrosative chemistry occurring in the human stomach, and illustrate how a diet rich in lipids can directly influence gastric biochemistry," said lead author Emilie Combet.
Lipids are substances of the fat group and are insoluble in water. |

Anyone who disagrees with me must ask the all-important question: If these cancer non-profits are so interested in preventing cancer, why won't they strongly recommend vitamin D which prevents 77 percent of all cancers? Why?
Why do we need to spend billions of dollars each year on "the search for the cure" when we have a substance right now -- available for free -- that prevents nearly 8 out of 10 cancers in the first place? A 77 percent reduction in all cancers sounds like a pretty important milestone to me. |

Because in the past people have just said vitamin D, ho-hum, sunshine vitamin ... who really cares about it? And these people now have to take pause and begin to think about it.
Adams: And in the UK especially, they're now seeing an official body overturning the advice to avoid the sun, isn't that right?
Dr. Holick: Which is wonderful.
Adams: But in the United States?

Thiamin, vitamin Bp plays a key role in the burning of energy in all cells. Thiamin is part of the coenzyme thiaminpyrophosphate. This enzyme helps convert carbohydrates to acetyl-coenzyme A. This is a normal step in the production of energy from carbohydrates. Thiamin is added to enriched grains and is not normally deficient, although marginal thiamin deficiency affects about one-quarter of the people in the United States and Canada.
Magnesium is needed to convert thiamin to its active enzyme form, thiamin-pyrophosphate. |
However, vitamin C does not help with the absorption of iron from iron supplements.
THREE OTHER ENHANCERS OF IRON ABSORPTION
There are three other enhancers of iron absorption. The mechanisms of action and the amount of the increases in absorption of these enhancers are not known at present. First, the presence of heme iron acts as an enhancer of non-heme iron absorption. Second, fermented foods such as sauerkraut and fermented soy sauce can enhance the absorption of iron from a meal. Third, several food acids, such as citric acid, increase iron absorption. |
Foods high in sucrose and fructose increase chromium loss. vitamin C in amounts of 100 mg or more increase the absorption of chromium. There is not enough information on chromium to establish RDAs. The adequate intake level (AI) has been set to reflect average intakes. Please refer to Table 13-5 for the adequate intake levels for chromium.
CHROMIUM SUPPLEMENTS
Trivalent chromium is available for supplementation in several forms. Chromium chloride is a poorly absorbed form. Chromium picolinate is the form used in much of the research on the health effects of chromium and is well absorbed. |
In many cases, a healthy diet can provide enough vitamin C to be protective against cancer. This is the basis for the dietary guidelines endorsed by the National Cancer Institute and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which recommend at least five servings of fruit and vegetables daily. Study results vary widely for breast cancer with some studies showing no protective effect and other studies showing a strong protective effect with intakes over 200 mg per day. |

Amazingly, the American Cancer Society appears to have no interest in vitamin D. How could it be that this cancer-centric non-profit wouldn't be interested in a free therapy that could eliminate up to three-fourths of all future cancers? Shouldn't this be the No. 1 headline around the world during breast cancer awareness month? Shouldn't the ACS be screaming this fact to anyone who will listen?
But of course not. In my opinion, the American Cancer Society has no interest whatsoever in actually preventing cancer. |

Ergocalciferol, vitamin D2, is made by irradiating ergosterol with ultraviolet light. Ergosterol is derived from the ergot fungus. It is a manmade product and not found in the human body unless it is taken as supplements or in fortified foods. Milk is often fortified with ergocalciferol in the amount of 100 IU per cup. Ergocalciferol has the same biological activity as cholecalciferol and can also be converted to calcidiol and calcitriol. |

Researchers tested synthetic, low-dose versions of vitamin E on populations with high risks of heart attack or stroke. When deaths occurred within the sample population group, the headlines read, "Vitamin E causes Heart Attack!" It's a preposterous conclusion; but this is how deeply distorted science has become today in its quest to promote the interests of corporations. (In truth, researchers weren't even using vitamin E, they were using a synthetic chemical with a molecular structure that isn't the same as vitamin E from plants. |

But if you don't smoke already, getting sunlight and vitamin D is the single most important thing you can do to prevent cancer, period!
Here's the full press release from Breast Cancer Action (www.BCAction.org)
Breast Cancer Action Launches 6th Year of Think Before You Pink
San Francisco -- Breast Cancer Action (BCA) today launched its annual Think Before You Pink campaign with a new focus -- "pinkwashing" companies that increase sales by putting pink ribbons on their products, even though these products contribute to the breast cancer epidemic. |

We think that vitamin D deficiency may exacerbate type 2 diabetes, there's some mounting evidence in the literature to suggest that.
Adams: So, if I can summarize, it appears that we have a nation that is suffering from chronic vitamin D deficiency that we are giving to a whole new generation of children who are starting out deficient and are therefore at a high risk for these diseases.
Dr. Holick: I think so, and that's why we're starting to sound the alarm. I'll give you another statistic. |

Without any one vitamin in your body, life ceases to exist. That’s what's so dramatic. What's really exciting now is that we're really in the most remarkable state. When my dad started doing this in the 60s, we were just doing vitamin screening. Then in the 70s and mid-80s, we started working with toxins. My father was one of the people who developed the hair test, working with heavy metals. Then in the 80s and early 90s, we started working on identifying these pro-clotting factors and being able to identify who was at risk from the major clotting factors. |

Adams: Today we're speaking with Dr Michael Holick, Thank you for joining us today Dr Holick.

And it's this 125-dihydroxy vitamin D that's responsible for telling your intestines to absorb calcium from your diet more efficiently, and to make sure that your blood calcium is normal and that you have healthy bones.
Adams: So if there is a failure of any of these body systems along the chain, that can suppress the circulating active vitamin D then?
Dr. Holick: Exactly, and in fact if you have severe liver disease, for example, you have two problems. |
Mike Adams, the Health Ranger See article keywords and concepts |
Holick: More shocking, though, was that we also looked at young girls (working with Dr Sullivan and Dr Rosen in Maine) -- and these are Caucasian girls ages 9-11 - and we found that 48% were vitamin D deficient at the end of the winter. And 17% remained vitamin D deficient at the end of the summer because of wearing all the sun protection.
Adams: Now that's even more shocking, it's obviously a chronic deficiency.
Dr. Holick: But here's even a bigger shock. |
Adams: And this trend - can it be reversed through vitamin D supplementation later on in their life? Or is that set in stone?
Dr. Holick: I don't know. What we're concerned about is the possibility that this may be imprint on the infant for the rest of his/her life. And I'll give you an example. There was a study done in Finland, and what they did was they looked at children 1 year of age that received 2000 units of vitamin D as a supplement for the first several years, and they followed them for over 20 years. |

Adams: So a person who's taking, let's say coral calcium supplements, if they're not getting sunshine or vitamin D to go with it, their absorption is halved.
Dr. Holick: Yeah, exactly, and it's really of little benefit.
Adams: That's fascinating. Once again showing that there's no single magic pill, you have to be healthy across the board.
Dr. Holick: That's right. And what I typically recommend to my patients is Tums or Os-Cal or Caltrate or any of the respected brands ... Super Cal or all good sources of calcium.
Adams: As long as you've got vitamin D.
Dr. Holick: Correct. |

D deficient, causing widespread vitamin D deficiencies in their unborn children, which predisposes them to type 1 diabetes, arthritis, multiple sclerosis and schizophrenia later in life. 81% of the children born to these mothers were deficient.

Sensible exposure to natural sunlight is the simplest, easiest and yet one of the most important strategies for improving your health. |

Under the guise of so-called science, medical researchers can come up with any conclusion they want. The vitamin E studies are a perfect example of this: they were carefully constructed with gerrymandered statistical curves to create the illusion that vitamin E is somehow bad for your health.
With the right motivation, researchers can design a study to say anything they want. They could create a study that "proves" water is bad for you... or sunlight... or air. Just because some new study has been announced in the mainstream press doesn't mean it's true. |

In 113 pages of text containing 37 recommendations for how to solve the breast cancer problem with black women, there is not a single mention of vitamin D. You heard that correctly: This miracle nutrient which has been scientifically shown to prevent 77 percent of all breast cancers -- a nutrient that is deficient in virtually all black women living in North America -- apparently didn't even cross the minds of these 100 doctors, nurses and cancer "experts" who contributed to this highly publicized report. |

There is no such thing as a pharmaceutical "cure" for breast cancer. The "search for the cure" is a marketing gimmick.
Mammography harms 10 women for every 1 woman that it helps. |
Has anybody thought this might be related to vitamin D?" No such person, it seems, was invited to the task force. In fact, it was less of a "task force" and more of a self-serving oncology orgy fest that was clearly designed to sell one thing to black woman: Mammography.
Myth vs. Fact About Breast Cancer
Let's get to some facts about breast cancer. Forget all the hype and propaganda put out by the breast cancer industry and this astonishingly ignorant Chicago task force. |

Because geography has everything to do with sunlight, which in turn has everything to do with vitamin D levels in the general population. None of this was even mentioned in the study, meaning that we have no way to know whether vitamin D levels were actually improved by supplementation.
The study did not compensate for poor hydrochloric acid production in the elderly
If you want to design a study that shows calcium supplements to be useless, strategy number one is to choose a segment of the population that has poor hydrochloric acid production. Namely, the elderly. |

Maybe they failed to read my own report, Breast Cancer Deception, where I clearly point out the link between sun exposure, skin color and vitamin D creation in the skin. (Or maybe they weren't interested in reading a report that didn't recommend more mammograms...)
Perhaps they have zero nutritional knowledge to begin with and aren't interested in learning anything new from someone else. |
In my opinion, their astonishing ignorance of vitamin D's effects on the cancer risk of black women is inexcusable. These people have a responsibility to know the basics when it comes to preventing cancer with nutrition, and when they remain utterly ignorant of these simple concepts, they post a dire risk to public health. Anyone foolish enough to follow their advice will only end up a victim of chemotherapy, radiation or useless cancer surgeries.
And why do I get so riled up about this topic? Because black women are needlessly dying of a disease that's simple to prevent, that's why! |
