For example, if you buy some traditionally grown green beans, tomatoes or carrots in the grocery store today, you will find that they have only a fraction of the vitamin and mineral content that the same plants would have provided twenty or thirty years ago. Our foods are devolving (well, not really from a genetics point of view, but from a nutritional point of view, they are getting less and less healthy with each passing year... |
It's a little more expensive than the Jenny Lee Supergreens product, but it has some added herbs and a couple of vitamin and mineral supplements that can add to the mix.
Blend the superfoods into delicious shakes and drinks
When you use superfoods powders, you can blend them into various drinks. And that's the way that I recommend you use these. You can start by blending them in at tiny ratios, such as 1 tablespoon of superfoods for the entire shake. That's enough to turn it green, but it won't alter the taste much. |
If you were to look at the vitamin, mineral and phytonutrient content of a sprout, you would find it is quite impressive. Not only does it contain all these nutrients, it also has chlorophyll, which is a fantastic blood cleanser, liver cleanser, cancer fighter and all-around health enhancing nutrient for the human body. So every time you eat sprouts, you are taking in highly concentrated doses of phytonutrients that promote healthy human life and prevent chronic disease. That's why sprouts should be part of every person's diet. |

The worldwide obesity epidemic drives the diabetes epidemic. In 2006, an estimated 246 million people worldwide had diabetes, a phenomenal increase from only 30 million just twenty years ago. That number is expected to climb to 420 million in less than twenty years. We believe that two to three times this many people already have prediabetes, creating the stepping-stone to a catastrophic health disaster. |

When taking fish oil, use a high quality full-spectrum vitamin E with tocotrienols and tocopherols to protect against lipid peroxidation, which is toxic to every cell in the body.
5. Fish oil will retain its original flavor and aroma. If not, the oils have been over-processed.
6. What to AVOID:
¦ Every species of commercial fish has been shown to contain unsafe levels of mercury and other contaminants.
¦ Farm-raised fish are contaminated for different reasons (they are fed toxins).
¦ Super concentrated fish oils are reconstructed into an unnatural etherified form. |

They feel like they've gotten that B vitamin shot. The second thing is better bowel movements and better bowel function. Probably the third thing is better stability with their moods. They experience fewer mood swings. When people are very low in Bs, it's like being low in sugar. You start to go up and down all the time. That is what I see in my little test area with folks in these nursing homes. I'm seeing moods even out and people reporting greater levels of energy. What's more, they love the taste, and that, I think, is the key. |

Omega-3 fish oils (EPA and DHA) combined with natural, full-spectrum vitamin E (i.e., mixed tocopherols and tocotrienols, including gamma tocopherol) can safely boost the essential fatty acid levels in your body, which in turn are instrumental in preventing depression and also can help to elevate mood at the same time (see Golden Key #2—Nutrition/Healthy Fats).

The reasons are many, and include widespread deficiencies of enzymes, zinc, vitamin B6 and other key nutrients; the presence of frans-fatty acids from partially hydrogenated soy oils—used to improve the stability of vegetable oils— and a lack of sufficient saturated fat in the diet. Illness and genetic propensities also inhibit the pathways. Vegans and others who decline to eat fish—as well as the breastfed infants of such mothers— consistently suffer deficiencies, as shown in laboratory testing. |

I took vitamin supplements; I made my own yogurt, muesli, and whole wheat bread; nothing changed. I changed the brand of supplements and still nothing changed. I remember so clearly one morning in desperation I cried out to God and asked Him please to give me wisdom and show me where I was going wrong. Within days, I believe He did and the Natural Way is the result. Now for more than twenty years I have not had a doctor's bill because of ill health (neither has my family) and my weight has been stable at a level that is right for my bone structure and genetics. |

Emergency Situations
Irritated Skin: To relieve skin irritated from essential oils, wash with soap and water or a mild detergent. If the rash does not clear up in a few days, seek medical attention. If there is blistering, seek medical attention right away.
Essential oil in the eyes: Place a small drop of plain carrier oil (e.g., olive oil) into the affected eye(s). The carrier oil helps to absorb the essential oil. Rinse with water and pat with a cloth. |

Pernicious anemia is another likely problem as vitamin B12 is manufactured in the human body in the small intestine by the natural bacteria or flora that are so easily destroyed by antibiotics.
According to J. I. Rodale in his book, The Complete Book of Food and Nutrition, Dr. Kaiser of the University of Illinois conducted experiments on himself, medical students, and dogs, in which the effect of onion consumption resulted in anemia. It was found that the red blood cell and hemoglobin count were starkly reduced with an increased intake of onion. |

In a separate double-blind trial, 59 percent of patients assigned to receive vitamin B2 had at least a 50 percent reduction in the number of headache days, whereas only 15 percent of those taking a placebo experienced that degree of improvement.
If you suffer from chronic headaches, a detoxification program can be effective. Try a two- to three-day vegetable juice fast, unless low blood-sugar levels bring on your headaches.
Constitutional hydrotherapy can aid detoxification. See pages 676-677 for directions. |

Sulfur needs vitamin C to activate it. So sulfur works like all the minerals in the proper synergy and proper balance. Although hot sulfur springs are good for skin beauty, excessive bathing in hot sulfur springs can cause other imbalances. According to Dr. Bernard Jensen, inorganic sulfur excess from sulfur pools may result in anemia and imbalances in the nervous system, and may even cause atrophy of vital organs. There is a difference between sulfur we get from food and sulfur waters or sulfur drugs. |

PUMPING IRON
Although toxic iron loads can contribute to many diseases, the problem of iron overload does not come from eating meat, which is rich in the absorbable, useful form known as heme iron, but from the non-heme iron in "enriched" flour, cereals, fortified soy foods and most vitamin and mineral supplements. Synthetic, inorganic non-heme iron is poorly utilized and accumulates in the body, contributing to cancer, heart disease, neurodegenerative diseases, infections and other ailments. Men begin accumulating non-heme forms of iron shortly after puberty. |
The majority of the experiments feature overdoses of the isolated amino acids methionine, cysteine and cystine without providing adequate levels of vitamin B6 and the extra hydrochloric acid needed to process this high amino acid load. Notably, people and animals fed real food have not experienced the same problems so cutting back on sulfur-rich foods is not the solution to osteoporosis.6465
One more thing about soy sulfur. Deficiencies occur not only because soy is short in methionine but because the protease inhibitors create a greater need for this amino acid. |

People with eczema should not expect vitamin E to be helpful with their condition.
A double-blind trial reported that use of a hypoallergenic infant formula plus probiotics (page 575) (500 million organisms of Lactobacillus GG bacteria per gram of formula, taken for one month) initially led to improvement in eczema symptoms in infants with suspected allergy (page 14) to cows'milk.30 However, by the end of two months, both the group receiving Lactobacillus GG and the placebo group had improved approximately the same amount. |
Preliminary data indicate that vitamin B3 (page 598) (niacin) supplementation may decrease thyroid hormone levels. In one small study, 2.6 grams of niacin per day helped lower blood fat levels.19 After a year or more, thyroid hormone levels had fallen significantly in each person, although none experienced symptoms of hypothyroidism. In another case report, thyroid hormone levels decreased in two people who were taking niacin for high cholesterol (page 223) and triglycerides (page 235); one of these two was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. |

Calcium gives solidity to the body, which is essential during pregnancy for the growth of the foetus, helps heal wounds and scars, prevents scurvy (working with vitamin C), repairs cartilage, soothes the nerves, and protects against tuberculosis, rickets, asthma, and hay fever. It builds and maintains bone structure and teeth. Calcium gives vitality and endurance. A certain amount of calcium is needed to act as a buffer in the system to create alkalinity. It also appears that calcium and glucose attract each other. |
