This unique antioxidant is not considered a vitamin because the body can manufacture adequate amounts; however, there is some evidence that adding to our natural production may have its advantages. Interest in alpha-lipoic acid is increasing rapidly among diabetes researchers. Evidence suggests that it enhances glucose uptake in people with type 2 diabetes, decreases insulin resistance, and repairs nerve damage. Some preliminary data also suggests that it may also improve visual function in people with glaucoma. |

I've seen fungal infections that have lasted for months clear up in a matter of days using caprylic acid and a little coconut oil. It works just as effectively inside the body, killing fungi without the least bit of harm. Polynesian women who eat their traditional coconut-based diet rarely if ever get yeast infections. Eating coconut oil on a regular basis, as the Polynesians do, would help to keep Candida and other harmful microorganisms at bay. |

However, it is recommended to keep the ingestion of those fruits that are very high in vitamin C to a minimum. In other words, while using Protocel, it is probably best to avoid a high amount of whole citrus fruits or fresh-squeezed citrus fruit juice. Both Jim Sheridan and Ed Sopcak used to discourage the use of supplements while using this formula and urged people to get balanced nutrients from their food instead.
The one exception in the above list, which does not raise ATP energy, but does interfere with Protocel, is ozone. |
By 1952, the father and son team had discovered a definite connection between vitamin B17 and cancer, and had developed the theory that cancer was, at least in part, a result of nutritional deficiency. They also put forth the idea that the trophoblast theory and the nutritional deficiency theory of cancer are closely connected. The way they are connected is that the body's pancreatic enzymes are the "first line of defense" against cancer. |
Added to this regimen were other supplements as well, including vitamin C, digestive enzymes, niacin, a particular type of iodine, and relatively high doses of thyroid extract.
Besides nutritional supplementation, Dr. Gerson required his patients to go through rigorous changes in their diet. As well as staying away from all added salt, his patients had to severely restrict their intake of fat and protein. Gerson felt that low protein intake increased T-lymphocyte activity and promoted the release of sodium from cells. |
As already mentioned, some of the most important supplements to focus on are calcium, magnesium, potassium, and vitamin D. Coral calcium products are very popular and are generally effective. Alkaline micro water can also be a good way to help alkalize the body. And an alkalizing product called "Master's Miracle" can also be effective.
If you also wish to improve your diet for alkalizing purposes, then the best thing to focus on is probably the reduction of refined foods from your diet. |

Some studies show that vitamin E improves the course of the tics while other studies show that it does not. Since the results are not conclusive, I suggested vitamin E to Maura without creating too high an expectation.
After Maura left my office, I was distracted for the rest of the day. I was certainly familiar with the kind of tics she had. In fact, I had seen much graver cases, but only in patients who had been treated with older drugs. Physicians always feel guilty when their treatments cause new, sometimes worse problems. |

This process also requires niacin, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and iron.4 Although L-carnitine deficiency is an infrequent problem in a healthy, well-nourished population consuming adequate protein, many people appear to be somewhere on the continuum between mild deficiency and overt disease. It seems likely that the decreased anabolic (building) effect of excess insulin that accompanies high-carbohydrate eating would tend to reduce the biosynthesis of L-carnitine.
Scientific Studies
There are many studies on the effects of L-carnitine supplementation on humans and animals. |
