Following the announcement of Herceptin, an FDA spokesperson said, "Why do we need to take risks with dangerous vitamin D when we have clinically proven products like Herceptin ready to be safely used by everyone? |
All Americans who currently have inventory of vitamin D pills or fish oil supplements are being asked to turn them in at their nearest pharmacy or face still penalties. The FDA promises to dispose of all the supplements in a safe, responsible manner by feeding them to prisoners in a series of radical medical experiments.
In other news, the FDA said it was ready to grant approval to the newest anticancer drug, called Herceptin, which, quite miraculously, has been shown to reduce the risk of recurring breast cancer by almost 1 percent. |

Allow me to explain: The bacterium certainly does exist, and it can be passed through the air, but the most important point that still escapes the understanding of conventional medical authorities is that vitamin D prevents TB infections. The only people susceptible to TB infectious are those who are chronically deficient in vitamin D! That includes people who don't get enough sunlight (or who have been brainwashed into using sunscreen all the time) and who eat atrocious diets lacking in vitamin D sources like fish oils. |

Adams: How do you think our country would look in terms of healthcare costs or patient counts if every person were out there getting sensible sunlight and getting adequate vitamin D? What would change?
Dr. Holick: It's almost incalculable, because like I said if you just think about the study that was done in Finland where it can reduce your risk of getting type 1 diabetes by 80%. |

Chronic vitamin D deficiency caused by darker skin pigmentation, indoor work environments, and dark-skinned people living at Northern latitudes (such as the Northern half of the United States, Canada or the U.K.) where sunlight intensity is greatly reduced. These factors explain why virtually all black children being born in the United States today are vitamin D deficient (see article) and why black women suffer such severe cases of breast cancer. vitamin D circulating in the blood has the ability halt breast cancer tumor growth, but chronic deficiency allows cancer tumors to grow unregulated. |

D levels;
?raise blood pressure, bad cholesterol (LDL), and triglycerides;
?stimulate an inflammatory response; and
?produce insulin resistance.
Over time, all of these changes can increase your risk of heart attack, stroke, and diabetes.
The nutrients you eat regulate your metabolism and determine how well it works. A diet high in magnesium—an alkaline mineral?improves insulin sensitivity and glucose control. Saturated fats and simple carbohydrates, on the other hand, make you store energy as fat and reduce your insulin sensitivity. |

Dozens of previous (and better designed) studies have looked at this issue and have shown a clear 30% - 40% reduction in bone fractures due to wise supplementation with calcium and vitamin D. But organized medicine wants you to think that somehow the body doesn't need nutrition. Instead, its promoters want you to believe that only prescription drugs can help you -- as if toxic, synthetic chemicals were somehow more important for human health than the natural bone-building substances provided by nature for which our bodies were actually designed. |
None of this was even mentioned in the study, meaning that we have no way to know whether vitamin D levels were actually improved by supplementation.
The study did not compensate for poor hydrochloric acid production in the elderly
If you want to design a study that shows calcium supplements to be useless, strategy number one is to choose a segment of the population that has poor hydrochloric acid production. Namely, the elderly. Guess who was chosen for this study? The elderly, of course. |

The CDC reported that when they looked across the United States at African American women during their child-bearing years, aged 15-49 years of age, 42% were vitamin D deficient at the end of the winter time. |

Typically, on average, probably 50-80% of nursing home residents, 50-60% of inpatient hospital patients, and on average I would estimate, 40% of the population in the United States at large, if they're not getting some sensible sun exposure, are probably deficient in vitamin D. |

Take a High-Potency Multiple vitamin and Mineral Formula with Chromium
A deficiency of any one of several key nutrients required for the proper manufacture and function of insulin can lead to impaired sugar metabolism. Especially important are the minerals chromium, magnesium, zinc, and manganese, and B vitamins. The use of a multiple vitamin and mineral supplements is associated with a minimum 30 percent reduction of diabetes risk in men and a 16 percent reduction in risk for women; however, the supplements used in these studies were far from ideal, in our opinion. |

Adams: Cod liver oil is of course a great source of vitamin D, as you mention, but some people are concerned about contamination of these oily fish with heavy metals - is that a concern?
Dr. Holick: Yes, PCBs. And so, what you have to do is if you're going to buy it, buy it from a respectable source. Certainly it's a step in the right direction. But you know there are omega fatty acids in there that have benefits to the heart, and have other health benefits. So it may be that many of those outweigh the possible risk if there are contaminants in there. |

Failing to warn consumers about toxic vitamin fillers should be a crime
Lawmakers have been asleep at the wheel. They've allowed food companies to run the system. They've allowed drug companies and nutritional supplement manufacturers to steamroll any attempt to protect the public, and that's why all these dangerous, toxic, disease-promoting ingredients are still perfectly legal.
The FDA seemingly continues to actually support these ingredients. They haven't done enough to try to outlaw them. |

So if the label on that vitamin bottle says "salmon oil," and you take out a soft gel and look at it, you would think it's filled with salmon oil, right? This is what most people think. This is common sense. But in fact, it is incorrect.
You might be amazed to learn this, but that soft gel may not be filled with salmon oil at all; it may have a miniscule amount of salmon oil in it, but the rest of it is just filler. It could be soybean oil, hydrogenated oils or some other form of filler. |
Point it out to them; show them the hydrogenated oils in these vitamins. Point out the sucrose, the corn syrup, propylene glycol or whatever else happens to be in there. Show them what they're really consuming and then give them a better choice. Introduce them to a health food store in your local community that sells some quality products. Encourage them to go there if they really want to take care of their health.
It's funny that people complain about how much money it costs to buy nutritional supplements. |

Part of this is due to sunscreen's effect of blocking ultraviolet radiation (UV light), which generates the powerful anti-cancer nutrient vitamin D in human skin. vitamin D is quite simply the world's best anti-cancer medicine, and recent studies have shown that it can prevent nearly four out of five cancers in women (ALL cancers, including breast cancer, cervical cancer, lung cancer, brain tumors, multiple myeloma and even skin cancer). Result: Children are now living with severe vitamin D deficiencies (even rickets!) that greatly increase rates of breast cancer, prostate cancer, osteoporosis, depression, obesity and diabetes. Doctors still don't recognize the important role of vitamin D in children's health, and they prescribe drugs to treat the symptoms of disease rather than recommending vitamin D (which would correct the underlying problems and eliminate the need for pharmaceuticals).

4. vitamin D}. Those over 50 should take 1,000 IU (International Units of vitamin D3) a day.
5. Omega-3 fatty acids. You can fulfill your daily requirement by consuming one tablespoon of flaxseed meal each day—perhaps sprinkling it over cereal. Be sure to refrigerate ground flaxseed.
6. Cholesterol-lowering drugs. These must be taken under a physician's supervision. |

When my dad started doing this in the 60s, we were just doing vitamin screening. Then in the 70s and mid-80s, we started working with toxins. My father was one of the people who developed the hair test, working with heavy metals. Then in the 80s and early 90s, we started working on identifying these pro-clotting factors and being able to identify who was at risk from the major clotting factors.
Now, for the first time, we're learning that there is such a thing as genetic mutations and we're doing genetic work with all of our patients. Recently, my father gave a talk with about 500 doctors. |

Of course, none of that has anything to do with reality because, in the real world, vitamin E is extremely healthy. It's very good for you, even in higher doses than most people take, and it's found naturally in nuts and seeds. Salmon oil is also very good for your health in many ways; not just your heart health, but also for your nervous system health, for stabilizing blood sugar and for providing nutrition and lubrication to some of the cells, organs and tissues in your body.
There are so many healthy products out there. |

I've never really heard anybody say, "I took a vitamin pill and I could feel the difference." When you take a look at the studies out there, you start to find that the average person loses about 70 percent of the tablet's nutrient content. Tablets are difficult to absorb, break down and get into your system. Like I said at the beginning of our interview here, sick people have malabsorption problems or digestive problems. They don't have the opportunity to get the nutrients, especially pre-liver. So for every dollar that they're spending on tablets, they may be losing 70, 80 or even 90 cents. |

You must have vitamin D in your body in order to use calcium. So if you're out there taking coral calcium supplements or eating a lot of green leafy vegetables, but not getting sunlight or ultraviolet radiation on your skin, then you are probably not absorbing the calcium you are going to such great trouble to ingest.
Reversing osteoporosis with sunlight
Sunlight can actually reverse osteoporosis. A lot of senior citizens are taking calcium supplements but not getting sunlight, so the calcium is passing right through their bodies. As a result, they're losing bone mineral density. |

We've got 36 key nutrients in there -- a gram dose of TNG, a gram of glycine, a gram of vitamin C. The interesting thing is that, when you're doing a supplement drink that's this nutrient-rich, you have to get the very best ingredients, or the taste itself can be just horrific. You also have to be able to do this without loading it up with sugar. Other products I've seen on the market are up to 90 percent sugar.

Mike: Well, there are a variety of products being positioned as healthy that have no business being called natural or healthy at all. |

Aloe vera amplifies the antioxidant effects of vitamins
This is an especially interesting effect of aloe: It makes vitamin C, vitamin E and other antioxidants work better! It actually potentiates antioxidants, probably due to its effect on enhancing blood quality and allowing the blood to more effectively transport oxygen and nutrients to the body's cells. In fact, it is my belief that aloe vera makes everything nutritious work better due to its blood-enhancing effects. If I'm right about that, it means aloe can potentiate anti-cancer herbs, too, helping them more effectively target tumors. |
