You'll still see press releases and announcements from the medical establishment from time to time that claim certain vitamins are harmful to human health. These are nothing but the desperate cries of an old medical hierarchy that wants to protect its intellectual territory and fend off any new theories that would challenge the old system of health, disease and medicine. That's why you don't see any discussion of sunlight when looking at issues about prostate cancer and osteoporosis. |

As people are increasingly finding out that prescription drugs actually kill you, while vitamins, nutrients, and plant-based supplements actually save your life, organized medicine had to go to Plan B. Plan B is to outlaw nutrition, which is what the European Union Food Supplements Directive is all about.
Let's take this one step further here. Lets assume they succeed in outlawing this nutrition. It's suddenly illegal to buy any amount of vitamin C over 50 mg, for example. It's illegal to buy various minerals, such as vanadium or boron. |

Molasses contains most of the nutrition of the original food, including the vitamins, minerals, and various compounds such as uridine. It is this molasses that's normally sent off to be used in livestock feed, and yet what we're finding here with this research is that this molasses can help prevent depression. Eating molasses is part of a food strategy that's just as good as antidepressant drugs. |

I've also created a free report called "Beat the Bird Flu virus" that lists the top antiviral vitamins, minerals, nutritional supplements, medicinal herbs, amino acids and products. The report is available as a free download on www.truthpublishing.com.
So if there is an outbreak of the bird flu virus, the solution is readily available if people would just get the right information. That information should include knowledge about the antiviral properties of these medicinal herbs and supplements. But of course, the public won't ever be told that. |

Another point worth mentioning here is that the national food supply doesn't offer consumers sufficient quantities of these vitamins and minerals. There's a great myth out there one frequently promoted by conventionally trained medical doctors that says you get all the nutrition you need from eating three balanced meals a day. But this is nothing more than a myth. "Three balanced meals a day" is meaningless because a lot of people think that one breakfast at Denny's, lunch at McDonald's and dinner at home with macaroni and cheese is "balanced". And that's absurd. |
The government (the taxpayers, actually) should provide free vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients to the population, especially pregnant women and children, so that we can prevent birth defects and behavioral disorders early on. We would save countless dollars down the road. This is something I've supported for a long time and I will continue to promote.
But of course, nothing is free. American taxpayers would be footing the bill, but it is a wise investment. |

The only way to do that is to eat superfoods, nutritional supplements, take lots of vitamins and minerals, and avoid depleting those substances by refusing to ingest foods and beverages that actually strip your body of nutrition. Those include white flour, added sugars, soft drinks, and so on.
At the same time, you have to keep in mind what level of exercise you are subjecting yourself to. There's no doubting that physical exercise can be quite strenuous on the human body. This is especially true if you engage in strength training. |

If we want to invest the effort of testing the whole population for something, let's start by testing for nutritional deficiencies and treating those with low-cost, commonly available vitamins, minerals and food supplements that can not only prevent chronic disease, but can actually help reverse diseases. Let's start there.
See, don't make the mistake of thinking that public health policy is driven by genuine public health needs. It's actually driven by the mindset of conventional medicine, which is to treat everything with drugs, surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. |
Because that's what you can do with simple vitamins and minerals. Zinc alone, if given to expectant mothers, can reduce the incidence of low birth weight infants by nearly one third. Vitamin D supplementation can prevent prostate cancer, breast cancer, osteoporosis and many other disorders. And magnesium, of course, can greatly improve cardiovascular health and actually help prevent heart attacks. And we haven't even talked about the healthy oils and how supplementing with omega-3 fatty acids or macadamia nut oil can greatly enhance cardiovascular health while improving nervous system function. |
But you can bet that if vitamins were patented and controlled by Big Pharma, we'd have nationwide, mandatory testing of nutritional deficiencies rolled out almost overnight. When there's money to be made, the diagnostic tests will magically appear to create demand for those products. After all, nobody needs AIDS drugs if they aren't labeled with the AIDS disease name. If you want to create demand for AIDS drugs, you first have to point your finger at a bunch of people and tell them they have AIDS. (And most people are stupid enough to actually believe their doctors on this one, go figure... |

People need more than four vitamins, and what I think we'll see in the future is the recognition that we need more than just chemical compounds in our body to be healthy.
I'm a big proponent of a theoretical body of knowledge called vibrational nutrition, which includes homeopathy, sunlight, the memory of water, sound therapy, light therapy, photo therapy and other similar vibrational modalities. In time, I believe these will all be recognized as necessary nutritional components for human health in the same way that chemical compounds are recognized today. |

People think, "OK, I've covered all my vitamins and minerals for the day because I took this one pill, and that's it." I have to laugh at that, because even though multivitamin pills may be helping them in some way, they don't provide sufficient nutrition for peak health or disease prevention.
In fact, if you ever find a study or a headline in the newspaper that says something like "Vitamin E is shown to have no benefits," that's because they were using an isolated, synthetic source of vitamin E. And, as is typical, they no doubt used very low dosage amounts. |

Then, through a complex system of metabolism and photosynthesis, plants manage to convert those elements into healing phytonutrients, including vitamins, enzymes, heart-healthy oils, fiber, proteins, and complex carbohydrates. Plus they produce all of these fantastic phytochemicals which we're now learning more about in terms of preventing, and even reversing, chronic diseases such as cancer.
Plants give you one more thing, too: the energy of life. This is another form of nutrition, which I call "vibrational nutrition. |

You'll notice that these are not isolated chemicals, nor are these vitamins or minerals. This is not chondroitin sulfate, or glucosamine, or MSM, or any of the other more common nutritional supplements you might typically take for joint health. Rather, these affect inflammation and joint pain through a different mechanism. They help inhibit the inflammatory response in the human body by fundamentally balancing the body's systems. They're not treating symptoms; they're balancing the body. Both rosemary and turmeric are well known for their tonic effects. |
Today, they think there's only "X" number of vitamins, and there's still more yet to be discovered.
Remember, the answers to health are right out there. It's up to you to decide which system you want to experience. Do you want to have a healthy, happy long life, or do you want to be another victim of organized medicine, another statistic of the pharmaceutical industry? It's really up to you.
The few products I've named here, by the way, are just a sampling of what's available. Go to any health food store and you'll see thousands more. |

With the money saved, they can buy high-density superfood supplements, whole food concentrates, high end herbs and vitamins, or other nutritional supplements. Spending the same money that you're spending today, I can show you how to be a heck of a lot healthier.
Brand-name rip-off foods
The processed foods, the popular brand name foods, are the most expensive of all. These deliver the least nutrition for your dollar. If you buy anything in a pretty box, anything that's been processed, anything that's been advertised on television or something that comes with a coupon, you have been conned. |
They're meanwhile sipping a Starbuck's coffee and driving a brand new car, and telling me that it's too expensive to buy a $29 bottle of vitamins, or superfood supplements, or something else that would do them a world of good.
It makes you wonder, where are people's priorities today? People are reluctant to invest money in their own health, and I find that absolutely astounding. Many of these very same people are buying $300,000 homes, and spending several thousand dollars per month on house payments. |

Laetrile has never killed anybody directly, certainly not (when) used as it's intended, and the margin of safety with herbs and vitamins is so tremendous, there's really no discussion.
I was at a professional conference a few months ago where an associate professor of medicine at UCLA was talking about herbs for cancer. One of her comments that really struck me was she said, "You know, with herbs there's such a wide margin of safety that I really recommend that all physicians should integrate herbs with their medical practice."
Mike: That's quite a statement coming from an MD. |

Well, we study some of the same courses, like we have some courses on emergency drugs and office surgery, we focus most of our attention on herbs and vitamins and diet and lifestyle and hydrotherapy and psychological counseling, basically any therapy we can find that helps make the body stronger.
Mike: You mentioned nutrition as well -- this has been one of the frequent criticisms of more traditional medical schools, that they really don't teach enough nutrition. How much training in nutrition and the relationships between food and health do students receive there?

Mike: Are there other places where customers can buy them?
Levine: Not really. |

But those results are manufactured for a political purpose (to discredit vitamins) and not at all based on solid science.
When I talk about nutrition and supplementation, I'm talking about taking literally dozens of capsules and eating several scoops of whole-food concentrate powder each and every day of your life. That's what I do; that's what healthy people do.
Why doctors misunderstand nutritional supplements
Doctors, by the way, don't seem to understand that these aren't medications, these aren't drugs: these are FOODS. |

And Swanson, which is located in North Dakota, manufactures and distributes its own line of vitamins and supplement products directly to consumers. They are not in the channel, and as a result, they offer tremendous value in terms of the ingredients you're getting for the dollar you're spending.
Other small companies are not in the channel either. They sell directly and offer a much better value. That's why their supergreens product is the best value in the industry, in terms of how much money you spend versus how much product you actually get for it. |

These are typically not going to do you very much good, because your body doesn't need just vitamin C; your body needs a whole complement of vitamins from a lot of different sources. If you want vitamin C, go with whole-food concentrates. You'll get plenty of vitamin C in a full-spectrum package that gives you antioxidants, phytonutrients, and cancer fighting compounds all at the same time; and none of that is actually listed on the label. |

These are probably the least expensive commercially produced vitamins and minerals available on the market.
So essentially, what you have here with Ensure, is a predominantly sugar-water product that has been fortified with a few vitamins and minerals. With that in mind, let's go back to the front label and take a look at all of the claims. It says, 'Complete, balanced nutrition to help stay healthy, active, and energetic.'
Well, perhaps the only word that's true here is 'energetic' because in the food industry, energy is typically associated with sugar. |

Maca contains vitamins A, B, C, D, E, B12, B1, 2 and 3. It contains 18 amino acids and 20 fatty acids. So it's perhaps the strongest root on earth, with no stimulants. Even though it doesn't have any stimulants, people feel energized right away. You get mental clarity, great stress relief and relief from anxiety.
Our second largest clientele to whom we sell maca are men who are looking for sexual energy. Maca is known to increase sperm count and motility in males, and egg follicle maturation in females. One of our other largest target market groups is the elderly. |

Also, if one is supplementing with whole food supplements such as Alive or Juice Plus, is it also necessary to supplement with calcium and other vitamins and minerals?"
Well, first off, I want to applaud you for remaining skeptical of the health claims described in the book, "The Calcium Factor," not because of whether or not they are true, but because the person authoring the book has a significant financial interest in your purchasing calcium.
As you know, I never have a financial interest in the products that I recommend or review on this website. |
We should all be skeptics of people who are trying to sell us products, especially if it's drugs or herbs or vitamins, because anything can have an element of hype or exaggeration to it. Just because someone is offering something that seems to be a natural vitamin or mineral supplement doesn't mean it's not being over-hyped.
In fact, there are many hucksters and con artists in the nutritional supplement industry, just as there are in the pharmaceutical industry. So, my position has never been that all nutritional supplements are good and that all pharmaceuticals are bad. |
And, they're saying that if a person meets the recommended daily allowance (RDA) requirements for vitamins and minerals, then that's really all they need. In contrast, most nutritionists and people from the wellness world would say that the USRDA numbers are really just the minimum requirements needed to avoid nutritional deficiencies that cause diseases. They are not in any way descriptive of the optimum levels of nutrition for a human being. |
